Fans of the 2000s cult classic reboot of Battlestar Galactica May want to dig out their dusty DVD boxes of the series because a huge mystery that has plagued viewers for years appears to have finally been solved. One of the show’s biggest stars answered the oft-asked question, and it’s as good an explanation as any.

Battlestar Galactica was a series with a surprisingly large scale, offering a seemingly complex story with equally intricate lore that arose in viewers’ minds. Regarding issues like artificial intelligence, death and a higher power, the series attracted fans looking for a fun sci-fi series about people fighting robots and left them questioning everything. One aspect of the show that illustrates this idea particularly well is the character Kara “Starbuck” Thrace, played by The Mandalorian star Katee Sackhoff. Starting out as a sarcastic fighter pilot, her epic story ended up leaving fans with questions, specifically after she appeared to die when her ship was destroyed and yet returned without explanation.

Sackhoff finally answered one of those questions in a recent Instagram post. After simply posting about the heat in the Pacific Northwest, her comments on the topic featured a fan asking seemingly out of nowhere about her character’s fate in Battlestar Galactica. The fan seemed desperate to find out how Starbuck came back after dying, as no official explanation has been given to date. Even though the series ended in 2009, there is still a lot of passion for it.

“She was a spirit brought to guide humanity to the earth and to salvation,” Sackhoff responded in a comment of his own, but not before calling out the fan for some insensitive words, insinuating that the actors do little more than just read scripts without worrying about your deepest feelings. meaning or even remembering them. “The actors don’t remember? Of course they do!” Sackhoff responded disappointedly. “It was the biggest opportunity of my career and this series was very collaborative. To also say that actors only read scripts is a very stereotypical statement.”

That’s certainly a great character arc for Starbuck. First-time viewers can simply expect a fun character that they can watch as she effortlessly pilots her Viper in defense of Galactica. But even before returning as a spiritual guide, she had her crucial destiny as Battlestar Galacticais the Harbinger of Death himself. This is just another aspect of the program that is as easy to quickly explain as memorizing the digits of Pi.

But as complicated as the series and Kara Thrace’s story are, it looks like fans can now rest easy knowing that they’ll probably get the most definitive answer they’ll ever get about her ultimate fate. It’s certainly a far cry from the 1970s original Battlestar Galactica in terms of scope, but many fans consider this its greatest strength. Perhaps this new information justifies another observation. So we all say.
